Typewriter
Typewriter from the savings bank (destroyed in 1944)
About the object
This typewriter comes from an office in the building of the municipal savings bank situated between Franziskanerstraße and Kartoffelmarkt, which was destroyed in the air raid on 27 November 1944. During the clean-up work before reconstruction, the typewriter was salvaged from the rubble and preserved as a physical witness to the bombing raid. It was subsequently bequeathed to the Municipal Museums in 1983 for the planned Museum of Urban History.
