About the object

The bronze sculpture of a vaulting woman is endowed with a rough, haptical surface and dispenses with a realistic reproduction of anatomical detail. The resulting dynamic and lively overall impression is a typical feature of Priska von Martin's work. With the resumption of nationwide touring in the 1950s after the war, the circus became an important motif for the artist. Von Martin was also fascinated by the performances of the Munich "Circus Crone" throughout her life, dedicating an entire group of works to this theme.
