About the object
This delightful back stool comes from the Bernau school of carving, its title »Gute Nacht« (Good Night) carved in the centre. The back carving was based on a design by Hans Thoma in 1900. Thoma supported and promoted the craft of carving and furniture making with his designs, as he recognised its special significance for the region.
