Maria Magdalena von Kachthaler in front of Freiburg Cathedral, 1836
About the object
In the style of portraits of the middle classes from the Biedermeier period, the young noblewoman Maria Magdalena von Kachthaler, née Häußler, had herself depicted in front of Freiburg Cathedral. The portrait was made as a companion piece to the portrait of her husband. Maria Magdalena had already commissioned a portrait of herself sixteen years earlier.
