About the object
The accident unfolds against the picturesque backdrop of a littoral Italian landscape: a girl's wicker bottle has slipped out of her hands and the handle has broken off. She is crying into her apron. A second, smaller child, half playing, rolls the broken handle across the floor with her bare foot.
