Julius Siegfried Uetz

1850 - 1885

About the object

Uetz sketches the half-length portrait of a girl with her head lowered and turned to the side. The girl's profile is emphasised by the trick of partially shading the visible, nearest half of the face and lighting the turned-away half, with the focus on her full, red lips. The viewer’s gaze thus becomes somewhat intrusive.
