About the object
The relief depicts the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. The motif is based on a woodcut by Albrecht Dürer. The relief probably stems from the wing inside an altar. The overall sequence could have encompassed a total of eight scenes, concluding with the Coronation of the Virgin.
